Is it safe to leave the water hose running full blast with the nozzle turned off?

A relative of mine does this, and I am afraid it might damage the plumbing or something.

The hose can break at some point, it’s not the wisest thing to do.

Your relative won’t hurt the plumbing at all, but the hose isn’t going to like that if it’s in direct sunlight. If it isn’t, and the local water pressure is fairly low to begin with, no problem. It won’t hurt a thing.

Most hoses will eventually burst if you leave it lying in the sun. Trust me, this happened to me twice and I was scared to get my water bill the next month…..with good reason. What a waste of water. Just turn it off and not risk it.

Yes this is ok as its the same process as a tap! the water stops at the point of shut off…theres no more pressure than a tap….hope this helps.

We’ve all done it, but the longer it stays that way the better the chances that the garden hose will spring a leak. I wouldn’t worry about the house plumbing.
