What plant is this and how do I take care of it?

My grandma gave me this plant when I went away to college but I’m not sure what type of plant it is. Also I don’t know how to really t take care of it and I’ve noticed that on some of the tips of the leaves are starting to turn brown.

I pasted links to pictures of the plant. 🙂 thank you

It’s ivy-very sturdy. Easy to grow, can tolerate medium to low light, water when dry. If the ends are getting Brown it’s getting to much (hard ) alight. Move it away from direct sunlight. Also it roots easy, so if you get a long stem without a lot of leaves on it, you can cut it back at an angle and put in water to Root. When it gets roots just plant-
    it looks pretty and healthy!

Ooooh, wow, such a pretty ivy! Give your grandmom a big hug.

I notice that it is in a pretty container, that might be a problem. See if the plant is growing in a plastic container inside the basket. If so, take it out of the basket and sit it on a plate or bowl for catching water when you water your ivy.

I put my ivy in the sink and give it lots of water from the tap. Let it drain well. Then return it to the plate. Let it get a little dry before watering again. If your room is warm, it will need to be watered often.

I give mine bright indirect sunshine near a window.

You can cut off the brown tips if you wish.

    That is variegated Philodendrum.

Likes indirect bright light and lots of water but will tolerate some neglect.

Will climb if you give it some support.

This is a varigated Philodendrum. A very easy plant to grow, water it once a week and it can be in almost any room.

    it appears to be Pothos…..

leaf tips browning is usually the plant doesn’t like the chlorine and floride in your water… use rain water and that will stop (or filtered water)….

tough plant, easy to care for…. likes moist soil, but never soggy… must drain well… starts easily if a section is put in either water or a hole in the pot that you poke in with a pencil…. needs NO fertilizer in winter… some in spring , yes…. the more occasions of sunlight , the more coloring on the leaves, but will not like TOO MUCH…. this is a shade plant, but bright shade…. if sun peeks thru curtains or tree leafs, that’s a good spot, too….

Pothos WILL climb walls… like in the picture on the mantle?… and when it comes off, there’s a mark left on the wall!!…..

the last picture on that page , from ‘aggie’ will take you to good care info…..
