What are the duties expected of the Chairman of a local gardening association?
I’ve just been elected Chairman of my local garden association but, apart from chairning the monthly meeting, I would like some idea of what else is expected of me.

Congratulations on your election. It all really depends what it says in your Constitution but basically you have to ensure that the Secretary completes the Minutes of meetings and presents them to you prior to distribution, that the Treasurer banks cash, keeps proper books of accounts and produces a balance sheet once a year, gives Income & Expenditure Reports etc. at each meeting. You have to ensure that other “title holders” on the committee do the jobs for which they were elected (i.e. Trophy Secretary has to keep track of all trophies and awards, who has what floating trophy etc. and get them back in time for annual competitons). The Chairman of a Committee also has to liaise with any local authorities, NGO’s and other organisations to ensure the efficient running of the committee in order to fulfil the Committee’s aims and objectives.

obviously like your web site but you have to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll surely come back again.
