Our backyard is mulched every year. What other materials can we use to cover the backyard?
We also have 2 dogs so it would need to be safe for them and their feet. There is no grass in the backyard…only mulch. We need to replace it every year and it costs a small fortune!
I should add that we cannot grow grass in the backyard.

You can get different types of rock over at home depot for really cheap, and it lasts forever! there are multiple colors, and/ or you can get plane white. Also adding some potted plants (small trees, bushes, flowers, etc..). When/if you put rocks/stones in you don’t have to remove the mulch just put the rocks right over the top of it. I’m a landscape designer so you can take it form me. Also if you want more options then you can ask over at home depot or lows etc.. whatever is in your area, or you can just google search them and check out there websites.

do you get leaves every fall ,chopped and composted makes a great ground cover.

i have same problem. but i found out rubber mulch for my backyard is 3,000.00 where regular mulch is 600.00 so ill stay with regular mulch for now. rock is to much and rubber is to much, shopping at lowes or homedepot is not a option. i need 30 yds to cover my back yard
