How long should I keep a mattress before replacing it with a new one?

I have had the one I sleep on for the past 7 years and recently its starting to squeak. Does that mean I need to replace it?

Yes because that means there are somethings wrong with your spring and that might cause back probablems and change your matress about maybe 4-5 years?

It’s recommended that conventional mattresses should be replaced every 7-10 years.
Memory foam mattresses have a life expectancy of 20+ years.
The squeaking noise could be from a link spring base. If that’s what you have. a little WD40 might get rid of it.
