Roundup the entire area. A week later (two days minimum) triple aerate and seed with 10 lbs of seed per 1000 square feet and fertilize with a starter fertilizer. Keep it moist for three weeks or until the area has germinated and needs to be cut. After the third cutting apply a pre-emergent herbicide like Snapshot or Benefin to kill the weed seeds as they germinate. If there are bare patches reseed them and don’t treat them with the pre-emergent. Treat any other weeds that get through with Weed-B-Gone or some other 2-4D containing product.
