How do I plan a baby shower ?
Planning a baby shower can be fun, exciting, and sometimes even nerve racking all at the same time. You get to choose a theme, pick out games and prizes, decide what favors to hand out, choose your invitations and thank you cards, and make your guest list. There is so much to do and, on top of planning for the baby, it can all be a little overwhelming. Below is a list of a few things that you should consider and keep in mind when planning a baby shower.
1. Don’t forget the favors. When you have a baby shower, your guests expect to get a favor and they should. A favor is your “thank you” to your guests for taking their time to come and celebrate with you. If your guests are bringing their own children, don’t forget to get favors for them as well.
2. Although baby shower game selection is usually limited, try to mix it up a bit and not only play the traditional games. You might even be able to come up with a few fun ones of your own. This will make your shower a little more exciting for your guests than the typical baby shower.
3. It is nice to include everybody, but it may be necessary for you to limit your guest list based on the space you have available, how much catering you can afford (or how many sandwiches you can make), and your baby shower favor budget. A more intimate setting will also make it easier to play games and enjoy a little conversation with the girls.
4. Try to choose a theme where you can tie everything in together. If you can tie the games, favors, and food in with your overall theme, it will make things a little bit more interesting and may be great for a conversation starter (your likely to get a lot of “how did you think of that” type questions).
Most importantly, have fun. This is a celebration for your baby and you don’t want to get too overwhelmed when planning a baby shower. If you do, it can suck the fun right out of it for you. If your plans aren’t going as you thought they would, drop everything and just play it by ear. There is no use stressing yourself out over things that you cannot control.
